Pieter Henning provides business research and consultation work.

Developer of the Proof of Concept: SureLink – A Commuter Transport service, a mobile device application.

Telecommunication products developed by Mr Henning over the past four years include:

• Developing Procurement Strategies for managing Business Communications for CommerceEdge
• SurePower Messaging System, the ultimate Load Shedding Communication system.
• SureClink – A vendoring service managing taxi operators with cellphone WIG technology.

Technical

As a qualified electronics engineer, he had more than 15 years technical experience with Transtel in South Africa,
Transtel has now become a shareholder in Neotel, the second national telecommunications operator

Interim Management Consulting :

Recently also developed the Mobile Banking strategy plan for a principal bank group in South Africa.
The technologies included in the business plan were: UMTS, WAP, SIMToolkit, Smartcards and Interactive Television.

The Strategic Plan covers M-Commerce applications for both the Executive Accountholders and the emerging unbanked market segment.

He has also developed several new mobile telecoms products enabling E-Commerce with digital mobile technologies.

During 1999 he developed new product development specifications for Unified Messaging and Location Dependent Services,
as a premium value-added service on cellular handsets.

Jan ‘08 – to date: Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames Community Connected Project. Linux and Open Source Consultant

Networking

7 years Linux networking experience, including distributed & hybrid networks.

2008 -installed and deployed 50 Ubuntu Linux based PC’s for the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames’s Community Connected Project. Responsible for authentication and connectivity of workstations and servers to a wider, high bandwidth wireless network in the Borough, providing internet and VOIP connectivity to local government, businesses and community. In the past 12 months I have gained experience of Ubuntu Support & Bug Tracking services.

Software & Application Development

Conceived and developed (using PHP and OSS) a financial software package which integrates HR management, payroll and invoice processing. This saved the client thousands of pounds previously spent on Sage products.

Launched an Open Source Moodle-based virtual learning environment for an educational project funded by the European Union and requiring information sharing between our local SQL database and a remote (UK Central Government) database which I linked securely via ‘stunnel‘.

Strategic Management & Training

Co-founder of MeWe Arts & Education, a social enterprise offering educational
services in Southern Africa and to several boroughs in South London.

In 2004 I migrated all of the organisation’s servers and desktops to Ubuntu Linux with a tally of 5 servers and 24 workstations by end-2007.

Served as Senior Linux Systems Administrator – executing a business plan
created in consultation with business planners from BT Wholesale, Deloitte & Touche, and Toshiba UK.

Werner delivers Linux Professional Institute Certified training at LPI Levels 1 – 2.
